Visit of Zimmerwald Observatory

The Zimmerwald Observatory is the Swiss Space Geodetic Reference Observatory and part of the defining global reference network ITRF/ITRS. Space debris monitoring is one further prominent activity.

- 17:30 Arrival Zimmerwald
- 17:45 Snack at the Sternwarte Zimmerwald sponsored by IEEE-CH and the Institue of Navigation (ION-CH)
- 18:45 Technical and scientific introduction Satellite Laser Ranging (SLR) by Prof. Dr. T. Schildknecht, Uni Bern
- 19:45 Demonstration Satellite Laser Ranging Measurement (if the weather permits).
- 20:30 Closure of the excursion
Please consider the meteorological conditions in January at 855 m AMSL. There is a short walk of 10-15 minutes foreseen (from Bus stop Post-Zimmerwald to Observatory). A limited number of private car transports to and from the Sternwarte will be made available. Parking possibilities are strictly limited at the Sternwarte.
