The Swiss Institute of Navigation ( ION-CH ) was founded in 1999 as a non-profit association. Member categories are active/passive/student (for individuals) and sustaining members (for corporate bodies). ION-CH is member of the European Group of Institutes of Navigation (EUGIN) and the International Association of Institutes of Navigation (IAIN).
The main objectives of ION-CH are:
- to promote and develop the art and science of positioning, navigation and timing (PNT)
- to co-ordinate information from the different disciplines involved in PNT
- to enhance the awareness of institutional and political entities for the importance and criticality of PNT
- to promote students and young professionals
The main activities and benefits of ION-CH are:
- Organization of conferences and congresses (ranging from international events to lectures on topical subjects)
